About 25-30 ft up. Not confident. Tried food etc but nothing doing the trick. Would rather avoid wasting fire fighters time/charges if possible.

What you need is a Ladder.

I thought this was going to a link to a front page Argus headline

Any fireman will tell you that there has NEVER been an instance of a cat's skeleton being found up a tree.

Three seconds of high-pressure water hosing will do the trick.

I believe this was the film where the coloured gentleman makes all the funny noises.

Place a ball of wool at base of tree , nip indoors peel some spuds , pop back out and ile guarantee ish when you come back the kitten will be gone and you may even have a poorly knitted hat for your troubles left near the tree for you .

I would definitely be looking to leave the cat to it, at least while you can see him/her. If you lose sight, then I'd be wanting to step in. Kitten needs to learn.

But keep an eye on them. It's horrible when they wander off...

It isn't rocket science.

It's way too high/awkward for a ladder other than a fire engine's ladder. Hence the thread.

cats will normally find their own way down
kittens are a different matter, it may have to be a ladder or the boys with the yellow helmets
but if you decide to go it alone you may have to be a little brutal but better the kitten had a damaged ego than fall
be prepared to be scratched using gloves does not give you a good grip
best of luck

Yes, when one of my cats got stuck up a tree I ended up googling it. Leave it for up to 24 hours unless it appears injured - if you go up there is a danger one of you may fall - it'll get itself down and learn a life lesson
