We feel really confident going into this game"
John Donoghue
Albion women will continue their defence of the Sussex Challenge Cup on Sunday when they face Crawley Wasps in the quarter-finals.John Donoghue’s side recorded a comfortable 6-0 victory over the same opposition in pre-season, but the Albion head coach is anticipating a tougher test this time round with the aim being to bounce back from last week’s defeat to Gillingham.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “Crawley will be better than the last game, as we played them in pre-season. Of course they will be really focused on denying us as much space as in the previous game against them.
“The players were feeling a bit low from last week as they wanted to perform better. There was a lack of match sharpness, but we still created several opportunities and competed against them without being on top form, so we feel really confident going into this game.
“We have only played two games in the last five weeks, so the players need as many minutes on the pitch as possible prior to our league game against Chesham next week.”
The side were boosted by the news that Charlotte Young returned to training this week after a shoulder injury, but Lily Agg is ruled out after a rib fracture.
Cally Beaumont is another concern after picking up a hamstring injury, while Charlotte Sole is likely to start in goal with Lucy Mangan unavailable for the match.
Next three fixtures:
17th November- Crawley Wasps (A)Sussex Women's Challenge Cup
24th November- Chesham United (H)League
1st December- Gillingham (A) League
