Is anyone else [slighty] annoyed that FIFA seem to be forcing national teams to abandon their traditional colours ?
Just seen the new Adidas range - Spain ALL red, Germany ALL white, Japan ALL blue ! These aren't their proper colours !!
We've already seen Holland go ALL orange, Italy & France go ALL blue - Will Brazil go ALL yellow too ?
Also heard Argentina have to dump their black shorts for white ones !
Call me a traditionalist....... [thanks] but respect the colours.
Imagine Brighton losing the stripes again !! we are the Blue AND White Army !!

Why do we think it's FIFA's doing?

It's probably down to adidas, Nike, Puma and the rest, surely?

I've heard that the new England Kit (yes, the new one launching less than 12 months after the last one) will have blue shorts, but white shorts will be worn in the World Cup.

Bit more information here (page 20 onwards) for all you kit nerds.

http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/tournament/competition/51/54/30/equipment_reg_26032010_en.pdf

This is my favourite bit, just reading it makes my head really hurt.......

5.3 With the sole exception of vertically or horizontally striped and chequered
shirts using two Colours equally in a non-predominant manner, in the event
that three or four Colours are used on the surface of a Playing Equipment
item, one of the Colours used must be clearly predominant and the remaining
Colours on the same Playing Equipment item must be clearly minor. The
predominant Colour must be visible to the same extent on the back and front
of the Playing Equipment item. In the event of vertically or horizontally striped
or chequered shirts using two Colours equally in a non-predominant manner,
the third or fourth Colour on the surface of the shirt shall be used in a manner
not affecting the predominant visual impression of the two Colours used as
stripes and chequers and one of these two Colours must be predominant on
shorts or socks.

They better not change the current home shirt

I remember being 'annoyed' that so many clubs introduced pinstripes in the early 80s.

I was a kid at the time, though. Just a few more things to worry about as an adult.
