Albion's under-21s produced an exceptionally professional display to win 3-1 over Ipswich Town at Portman Road, with goals from George Barker in the first-half, and a brace from Shamir Goodwin after the break.
Simon Ireland's young side can be proud of the result and performance as they overcame a strong Ipswich side, which featured the likes of Irish duo Stephen Hunt and Alan Lee, and former England under-21 keeper Scott Loach.
In a quiet first half, Barker put Albion ahead after 22 minutes when he drove a low shot past Loach from the edge of the box.
At the other end, Lewis Dunk was back in an Albion shirt following his month-long loan spell at Bristol City, and a short spell on the sidelines with injury.
The central defender was in commanding form at the centre of Albion's defence and gave a dominant display against Town's physical former Irish international Lee.
On the one occasion Albion's defence was breached, by an excellent free kick from former Reading and Hull City Hunt's free kick, Christian Walton was on hand to deny Anthony Wordsworth from close range, with an excellent save on the line.
Early in the second half, Charlie Harris combined well with Solly March, but his shot hit the side netting; and a few minutes later, Jack Doherty pounced on a half-cleared cross to slot home with a side-footed shot from close range.
Albion's young side would have been forgiven for crumbling, against more experienced opponents, but within a minute they'd restored their lead as Goodwin converted a March cut back; and six minutes later Goodwin put the result beyond doubt with a superb strike from the edge of the box beating Loach and nestling in the bottom left corner.
Dickenson went close to further increasing Albion's lead with a low drive across goal, which Loach got down to his right to make an excellent one-handed save, but the fledgling Seagulls can proud of their night's work in East Anglia.
ALBION: Walton; Chicksen, Rea, Dunk, Deen; Asmundsson, Harris, March; Goodwin, Dickenson, Barker.
Subs not used: Smith, Muitt, Barnett, Benham, Davis.
