Trains to Middlesbrough

I was pondering going to Middlesbrough as I have the whole weekend free for once. I appreciate I have left it late for getting a good deal on the trains but any chance someone has found a reasonable price for one recently? Best I can find from London now is around 68 pounds from London or 86 pounds from Southampton on a rail card. ??? The spotted hanky website seems to just spew out the same results as the national rail one.

Have a look at Kings Cross to Eagglescliffe.

Agreed - the service is run by Grand Central and goes direct to Eaglescliffe, a village about 8 miles from Boro. From there you can get a train straight to Boro or get a taxi at the station for about £15

I'm heading home from Teesside on the day of that fixture, ended up booking a plane journey as it's cheaper and less hassle than going by train. If that's impractical, National Express run coaches direct from Brighton / Patcham to Boro town centre.
