The way they get behind the team and their patience, even when things don’t go our way, has been outstanding"
Nathan Jones
Nathan Jones has praised the support he and Oscar Garcia have received so far from the Albion faithful. The Welshman is looking forward to another packed Amex on Saturday and is aiming for another three points.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “The fans haven’t seen the best of Albion yet, but they’ve been excellent. The way they get behind the team and their patience, even when things don’t go our way, has been outstanding.
“We'll have another big crowd tomorrow and hopefully we can put on a performance. We’re looking forward to it and hopefully there’s a bond building because obviously the fans care about the club, but I definitely know the manager does too.
“He’s a fantastic manager and a real character. He has a philosophy and he’s very methodical in the way he does things.”
Admitting the squad have enjoyed a good week's training, Albion’s assistant head coach believes the team are ready for the test posed by a strong Blackburn outfit.
“We’ve had a good week of training and we needed to really, we’ve got a big test coming up.
“Blackburn will pose as big a test that you get at this level. The players they’ve got, their strikers and the size of the club – it’ll be a stern test.
“But it’s one we’re going to look forward to and one we won’t take lightly, we won’t go into it with delusions of grandeur.
“As a player you want to test yourself against the best and they have some of the best the Championship has to offer.”
Meanwhile the side have been training at Jones’s old stomping ground the Withdean this week, and the former Seagulls player praised the quality of the facilities.
“It’s a fantastic surface down there, the groundsman has done a fantastic job. It’s a good place to train, it’s a stadium kind of place and I believe we’re going to use that facility quite a bit now.
“The Withdean was very good to the Albion – we had four promotions there – fantastic memories. It can’t compare to the Amex but it was a good home for us.”
