Gordon Greer is heading for a showdown at The Amex with a rival for a Scotland centre-back place.
The Seagulls skipper is set to go head to head with current first choice Grant Hanley when Blackburn visit on Saturday.
Hanley is available after serving a three-match ban and is likely to go straight back into the side, even though Rovers kept a clean sheet against Middlesbrough last Saturday.
The 21-year-old, 6ft 3in powerhouse is very highly-regarded by Rovers boss Gary Bowyer but has been absent since seeing a straight red on October 6 for elbowing Wigan’s Nick Powell.
Both Hanley and Greer were named in the Scotland squad to face Norway and the United States in friendlies.
Rovers have an injury list to rival that of Albion in terms of numbers while striker DJ Campbell is suspended.
But Leon Best (groin), David Dunn (knee) and Dickson Etuhu (knee) are pushing for places, probably among the substitutes.
Left-back Tommy Spurr, whose long throw could be a threat to the Seagulls, is also in the running to return from injury.
