Fifa have realised chair luzzing will be non existent in Brazil.

They are just trying to bring this "sport" back to Europe.

The Ruskies are crap at it though, all luzz and no wrist, swing or spin.

Yes indeed it is. Very bizarre.

For many of them, the events of history are superceded by a loathing of people who are not Russian, straight and male. Repulsive country. I'd rather see the World Cup in a country that shows at least a smidgeon of tolerance.

Repulsive country? It's actually quite an amazing country. By making sweeping generalisations about Russian people like that, you're hardly expressing great tolerance yourself.

You are correct - it's a wonderful place with a fascinating history. Which makes what is currently happening to it all the sadder.

You're also right to suggest I have no tolerance for right-wing regimes that oppress and bully the innocent.

So, overall, we're probably in agreement.

Not that amazing,.... certainly some picture postcard spots dotted around, but Mustafa, a more corrupt and disorganised country you will hard pressed to find, ... amongst so called 1st world countries at least. Skimming of the big industries by a small criminal community after the fall of communism ( again) has simply created a consumer based society that makes western Europe and the Usa look positively egalitarian by comparison.

Civil unrest in Brazil, racism and political extremism in Russia and burning temperatures in Qatar. The politics around the World Cup are more interesting than the football itself.

All the nutters in Russia seem to support CSKA. Certainly the Millwall of their country. It's strange that Spartak, Lokomotiv, Dinamo and Torpedo Moscow are all very different and quite welcoming.

Moscow is an absolutely lovely city but everything there is a rip-off. A tenner for a pint of lager, a fiver for a bottle of coke and taxi drivers target Westerners with ridiculous fares.
