I was brought up in Whitehawk and pronounce it sCONE whereas my missus was brought up in Hangleton and pronounces it sCON , so a bit of an east - west divide.

I went to a pretty posh school too, but I don't recall discussing teatime snacking items, so was never taught the proper speaks. I still think they rhyme with gone.
You never did teatime snack elocution lessons at your school!!!?
