Awful news, one of the true greats. A trailblazer and trend setter of modern music.

I'm genuinely upset.

Very much this. A trailblazer, trend setter and role model for grumpy old men world wide. Transformer is an absolute stone cold classic album packed with wonderful and varied songs.

Ah bloody hell.

New York will be getting an airing tonight/tomorrow.

RIP, legend.

That is sad.

I've actually had Perfect Day on a loop in my head ever since I woke up this morning, and I can't think why as I've not listened to the radio or anything. Coincidence or prophetic?

Very much an incredibly gifted man who penned some absolute classics

R.I.P. First heard about Lou Reed in about 1980 when a mate played Transformer.

Oh God...

This is very, very upsetting. Lou Reed is one of the absolute greats, both in his career with Velvet Underground and solo too. I'm truly shocked - I only logged in to find out how the storm was going.

What happened, how did he die? This was not something that I had any inkling was on the cards - he must only have been 65 to 70.

Gutted.

This...very much part of what I was listening to in my teens!

Of the 40 or 50 bands I've seen live on Wembley Stadium stages he was, by far, the worst

So what? His legacy is one of countless albums that are still relevant today, and he has influenced a lot of fantastic bands too.

You know, if someone who I don't particularly care for dies, I don't bother to comment on a thread about their death.

He's hardly a stadium act, in any of his guises.
Which just goes to show how great and influential he was.

Pernod anyone?

On my all time list. Great with the VU but Transformer - although more commercial - is just a stunning piece of work.

RIP man.
