Colossal Squid and his knockout thread have encourage me to hurry up:

TWO will qualify automatically

Final Group

Marvellous Creations Jelly Popping Candy

The new kid on the block in this here contest. A little jelly, some popping candy and a big dollop of chocolate. It's been nominated, it's been seconded, it's soon to be out.

Wispa Gold

No regular Wispa this year, but the Gold has been a fans favourite since its arrival a decade ago. This is a tough group, though...

Snickers
Snickers_wrapped.jpg

Last year's runner-up. Potential to beat any competition in a straight fight. Cruise through this group, but may find itself in trouble if encountering the very similar Star Bar in the next round.

Toblerone
Toblerone-of-Switzerland.jpg

Classic duty-free gift, next up. Hazelnuts and chocolate is always a popular combination and has the obvious USP of shape. May not have enough in the tank here.

Bournville

Tough break for the Bournville. Niche market, up against the heavyweights. Also Ran.

Green & Blacks Butterscotch

Sumptuous chocolate with butterscotchy goodness. A connoisseur's choice with no mainstream appeal. Scores highly for me though.

Yorkie

It's not for girl's. Obviously. Mellotron may not be a fan, but the Yorkie has bigger fish to fry in this competition.

Plumped for the Toblerone, hoping it'll sneak in to runners up spot.

Wispa Gold, it won't get through because people will see it as a "flavour" of a classic bar but it's a quality chocolate bar in its own right.

Right then....Jelly-popping candy -?? Someone at Nestle HQ has been watching Heston Blumenthal and got a little bit carried away. Misguided. Fills a niche for which there is no demand. Wispa Gold - never had one. Guessing it's a Wispa with a sickly layer of caramel? If it is, leave it to the experts, ie Caramel. Snickers - reliable pub session bar, peanuts offer a welcome twist to the standard pub fare, but, let's face it, you're no Star Bar. Toblerone - decent airport bar, awkwardly shaped and sized, making this an uncomfortable roof of the mouth experience. Bourneville is a drink, and not a very nice one at that. G&B's Butterscotch: tasty, but its premium price may make this the choice of middle-class aspirational pushy parents who like to be seen conspicuously consuming at Waitrose or the organic supermarket. A decent Valentine's present though, as a side dish. Yorkie is just a chocolate bar, nothing more, nothing less. I'll go with Snickers.
