Ever been fired?

I was fired years ago when working on a campsite in France. Had an hr to leave and had no money and miles away from the nearest town.

Nightmare.

Got sacked from an engineering company in my twenties. I was in charge of doing DSU assessments for about 400 people. I got so bored I just stopped going in. About a month later I got sacked by a hand delivered letter. It wasn't unreasonable on their part.

I've been a victim of the modern age and lost a job because of something I posted on twitter. Was working at a coffee shop and was verbally abused by a miserable customer because his cappuccino wasn't frothy enough (even though it was pretty damn frothy) and vented my feelings via social media and got the sack because of it.

That is becoming increasingly common. Unusual to be sacked from one Twitter by I knew a mate who was working at a well known broadcasting company who needed to shed staff. They simply trawled through everyone's facebook accounts and sacked anyone that had anything slightly racist/sexist or dodgy or had said anything against the company and sacked them. My mate never uses FB so he stayed.

Yeah in my teens, working at a big hardware chain - fired for coming in late, probably 2nd or 3rd time I was late. Couldn't stand the job, the boss was very aggressive and well OTT in terms of his expected workloads from everyone working there. Used to get through a lot of staff.

I might have said that I thought the gentleman in question was a bit of an arse and that I hoped that his drink caused an obstruction of airflow into the lungs. Or words to that effect...

I was sacked from temp job with TSB, when they realised i was working in an area of people losing their properties, at the same time as I was during the hideous 80s...

I read recently of a (outstanding sacking policy) mass sacking at a company in singapore.
They conducted a fire-drill, and when everybody was out of the office, advised people that if their building access cards didnt work anymore, they were redundant!...

I got the sack from a Management Accountant position at an NHS hospital on the final day of my 6-month probation. I was escorted off the premises straight after the meeting.

Not pleasant at the time, but it acted as a powerful motivational tool for me to get properly qualified in accountancy, and I haven't looked back since.

Last job! Told the MD that he couldn't have the deal he wanted with a major partnership. He blew his top, fired me and 6 months later ended up signing the same deal I had told him was the best he could get. Still trying to recover from the experience!

That's Partridge-esque, reminiscent of the time Alan sacked all of his staff at Pertree Productions. I believed he locked them in a room and sacked them over the intercom (apart from the lovely Jill, who he took to an owl sanctuary and then sacked later that night).

Also got sacked from a crappy security job. Quite unfairly I reckon as I wasn't technically sacked: My Stepfather was very ill one Christmas so I asked for holiday time/compassionate leave. They refused so I went anyway. When I got back they had me on the contractor's site and said they weren't happy but understood and moving forward we would all try to be more reasonable. The next day on site they said they were having a duty re-shuffle and moving me away from the Health & Safety side of things to more security based work so I spent the day training up my oppo on H&S procedures and went home at the usual time. About 10pm that night I got a call from the contracted security company saying under no circumstances was I to go back on site.

I was still employed by the security company but they just weren't going to give me any work. I had no choice but to resign. Funnily enough the job I got soon after was at the aforementioned engineering company that I got sacked from as well. My early twenties were not my most productive years. Luckily I've pulled my socks up since then.
