Nathan Jones confirmed that Albion are still looking to add more striking options following the goalless draw at Yeovil. He told seagulls.co.uk, “It’s been very frustrating because we know exactly what we need.
“Obviously we don’t want to bring in just anyone, we want players that can affect our squad and make us better.
“We have identified the type of player we want but it has proved a little more difficult than we thought to bring in.
“We’re a little bit closer to that and we’ve got eight days now until the next game and hopefully we’ll have someone in by then.
“We can’t count our chickens before they hatch; it's the old cliché, but we are working hard to try and put that right and get more competition for front places, and to bring in someone with a bit of a record who's going to lift us really.”
The Welshman admitted that the lack of strikers has hindered the side but is still adamant that the displays have been very pleasing.
“Anyone who’s watched us for the last two months has seen we are creating enough chances. If we took any kind of percentage of our chances, we’d have far more points than we have.
“Yeovil was a very difficult place to come to; they work hard, they’re very organised, they give everything and that’s what’s got them success.
“We just didn’t have enough of a real clinical edge in the last third, which is something we have been lacking if we’re honest. It’s a little bit frustrating, but we go on.**
“That’s been our problem lately, we know that; with players like (Craig) Mackail-Smith, Leo Ulloa and Will Hoskins out, we know that we’re missing that goalscorer, that one who can win you games.”
Meanwhile Leroy Lita made his Albion debut at Huish Park and Jones was excited by what he saw from the second-half substitute.
“He looks quite lively; I know Leroy from a long time ago and the only thing with him is that he hasn’t played much football lately, so he’s not ready for 90 minutes.
“We’ve got to get him fit as quick but as safe as possible and we’ll hopefully see the best of him.
“He brings potency, he is sharp and powerful and he knows the role. He’s got goals in him; everywhere he’s gone he’s scored goals.”
