Plane Crash at Edburton - Or not.

Is what I 'saw' yesterday - Walking between Devil's Dyke and Truleigh Hill, watched a plane flying way too low about a mile north. Appeared to be flying towards woods, I thought he can't be in trouble, as why would he fly toward trees but then he just flew straight in to the trees or so it seemed, disappeared from view but no noise or smoke. We pondered a while, then I called 101 & explained to the plod what had happened - He calmly told me not to worry, there are lots of airstrps in the county that are just cut in to fields, and can look like they're going to crash??

So, who knew that these things existed? And WTF would you put it between woods?

He probably rounded Truleigh Hill and landed at Shoreham. You were unsighted because of the trees?

Honestly, he was at treetop height (or thereabouts), there is an airstrip there, it's not that obvious on the map at first, and completely invisible from the downs.
