Next month, I will be spending a week in somewhere called 'Newcastle', and not being familiar with it as a destination I am reaching out to the wisdom of NSC for their advice on this far-flung land.

- Do they speak English there?
- Am I able to use pounds or will I have to use a local currency of some form?
- What is the native cuisine like?
- Are any vaccinations required?

Any help and advice will be greatly received.

To understand the accent a bit better before you go just watch all the series of "Auf Wiedersen Pet".
You can use regular money there , it seems to stretch a bit further too.
Don't ask for a bread roll , ask for a stottie.
Vaccinations are only for people who want to wear a coat outside in the middle of winter.

Don't forget the national dress of a thin tee-shirt with a packet of fags in the sleeve.

You'll spot the foreign women - they'll be wearing clothes

Living In a Box
Hang out around the Byker Wall, lovely stuff

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
The local football team wears red and white striped shirts. The locals will give you a cheery wave if you wear one and recognise you as one of their own.

Make sure you purchase a copy of the native magazine ' Viz ', it is the complete compendium of all things Geordie and will give you great advice regarding the locals. Especially the ladies! !!! :salute:
