Keith Andrews admits Albion need to improve after the international break.
And he insists he would have said that even had they held on to the 1-0 lead given them by Andrew Crofts against Nottingham Forest.
The Seagulls saw their advantage turned into a 3-1 defeat at The Amex yesterday.
Andrews would have loved a win but said: “If we had got the result everything would have been rosy in the garden.
“But results sometimes paper over cracks.
“We know in the last couple of games, performances haven’t been good enough.
“We’ve felt we have been in the game but we feel we are capable of much more.
“Certainly we are not happy with where we are at the moment with our level of performance.
“We will be trying to rectify that.”
Albion have taken just one point from games against Ipswich, Sheffield Wednesday and Forest in an eight-day spell.
Andrews said: “Things haven’t gone well over the last week and we can’t shy away from that.
“Results and performances haven’t been good enough and we need to stick together as a group.
“The next result, the next game, is two weeks away.
“It gives us that little bit of breathing space to see if we can get a few more bodies available.
“We really need to stick together and make sure we are up for a tough game away to Yeovil.”
