There are times when we’re going to be short, or when we’ll have players out but it is a squad game"
Matthew Upson
Matthew Upson has full faith in the quality of the Albion squad despite the increasing list of injuries.
*
Leonardo Ulloa and Kemy Agustien have both been ruled out of the game against Nottingham Forest, further adding to the Seagulls' injury woes, but Upson is confident that the squad's strength in depth can cope with the latest setbacks.
*
He told seagulls.co.uk, “People who might not see themselves as an automatic choice now have a chance to play. They are hungry, committed and give 100 per cent and that is all you can do as a player.
*
“You could describe the injuries as a blow but it is an opportunity for the players in those positions to come in and give everything they’ve got, so from that point of view the team is in a positive situation; we should not look at it too negatively.
*
“It’s part of being a successful team and we’re going to have to be like that throughout the whole season. There are times when we’re going to be short, or when we’ll have players out but it is a squad game.

“We’re having a tough time at the moment, getting people fit and on the pitch, so as a group we’re trying to stick together and do everything we can to make sure we are fit.”
*
The former England international admits the side hasn't been at its best of late but is moving forward under Oscar Garcia.
*
He added, “There has been a lot of change and things take a bit of time to settle down, but I’m happy with the path we’re on and I feel everyone’s improving.
*
“Hopefully we can pick up our home form and match what it was at the end of last season.
*
“It has been difficult for us at home but away from home we’ve maybe put in some of our best performances.
*
“Forest are probably a stronger team than they were last year; they have got financial backing and their results have highlighted that.
*
“But it is a great opportunity for us to pit ourselves against them and give a really good account of ourselves.”
