Oscar Garcia and Nathan Jones are still hoping to make a loan signing
Nathan Jones has vowed there will be no let-up in Albion's hunt to sign a loan striker.
The Seagulls are still intent on landing a like-for-like replacement for Craig Mackail-Smith, regardless of their good form and the looming return of leading goalscorer Leo Ulloa.
The Argentinian target man completes a three-match ban for his red card at Reading with today’s trip to Ipswich and will be available for Tuesday’s visit of Sheffield Wednesday.
Assistant head coach Jones said: “We have good players here, we know that. But if we just say, okay, we’re content, then people get complacent.
“We’re not looking to do that. We’re looking to add quality all the time, so we are looking to keep a good level of competition there even when people are playing well, so they have that little edge that drives them on.”
Ashley Barnes spearheads the Albion attack at Portman Road again today in the absence of Ulloa, who with Andrew Crofts had been their only goalscorers in the Championship until Will Buckley and Inigo Calderon struck in last Saturday's home win against Bolton.
Jones said: "They (Buckley and Barnes) have both stepped up to the plate. It's good to get Will back on the scorsheet, because with the ability he has got he needs to add that to his game.
"It's good that other people are scoring. We gave Calde a bit more attacking license and he repaid us, so it's good that other people are chipping in, not just the centre-forwards."
Loan movement is likely out of Albion as well as in, with Jones revealing young fringe members of Albion's first team squad could soon be ripe for temporary departures.
He said: "With the size of the squad we have it's inevitable some people won't play and when the time becomes right, especially for the younger players who need that experience so they are ready for when Brighton calls upon them, then we will loan them out so they are game ready."
Vitalijs Maksimenko, Solly March and George Barker are all probable candidates.
