It does look like he should be investigated for Common Assault (otherwise known as Assault by Beating) as any form of unlawful touching can be classed as assault.

He was heading for the chap. Form would suggest he was harmless, but wouldn't you intervene, if you were in the same position?

Erm, even Iain Dale didn't claim the bloke was taking an attacking posture, he blogged that the 'protester' was merely 'filling the screen' while his paymaster was being interviewed and thought it was his duty to remove said protestor from the background.

I used attacking in inverted commas. Would you not stop someone from intervening?

I would be disappointed if he wasnt. If the role was reversed, im fairly sure the protester would find himself nicked.

That protester is like Catt. Every time a camera is near, he tries to put his banner up

How much do we budget for scuffles going to court?

What is appropriate force used to stop someone you think may harm someone?

How do we know if someone means to harm or simply protest in a reasonable manner?

Indeed, been protesting for 30 years apparently. Should have just chucked him over the railings and be done with it.

Protest is legal in this country and assaulting them is illegal. If you want it the other way round then get Dr Who to take you to WW2 era Germany, Stalinist USSR and Maoist China. You'll have a ball.

People should also have the right to go about their lawful business without some **** trying to hijack it with their own agenda.
