'Jewish' is making reference to an ethnic race but not a nationality.

I would imagine it is possibly something to do with the fact that he was born overseas. But that is purely a guess, I am no expert on citizenship issues.

Although your father was born in Scotland, one or both of his parents were born in Northern Ireland.

My qualification for Northern Ireland would be as a result of where I was born.

I think the answer is - if you were born in the Commonwealth, but outside the UK, to British parents, you qualify to play for any of the four home nations.

John Robinson, Eric Young and Matt Le Tissier were beneficiaries of this rule.
