We gave good displays and if we get the win against Bolton these two draws will feel all the better"
David Lopez
Albion midfielder David Lopez has called on his team-mates to find the target in Leonardo Ulloa’s absence. The Seagulls have drawn two successive blanks following the striker’s sending off at Reading last Sunday and David says it’s now time for others to step up to the plate.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “Leo had scored four goals and was in great form, so we notice it when he is not there, but whether it be Ashley (Barnes) or the midfielders, we have got to score goals without him.
“Hopefully one of us – be it me or whoever is playing - gets one. It is really important that midfielders help out when it comes to scoring goals. That was an important part of our game last year.”
While Oscar Garcia’s side have drawn successive stalemates, there were still very encouraging displays at former Premier League sides and promotion favourites Reading and QPR – but David hopes to go one better against Bolton this afternoon.
“They were two important points,” he adds. “We gave good displays and if we get the win against Bolton these two draws will feel all the better.
“At QPR it was more back and forth and we didn’t have the type of clear chances we had at Reading.
“We deserved two more points at Reading but the important thing is to beat Bolton and not think about those matches.”
Bolton visit the Amex this afternoon bottom of the table and still searching for their first league win of the season, but the Spaniard is anticipating a tough encounter.
“We all have a slump and that’s what is happening to Bolton at the moment.
“They will come down here very motivated and will be trying to get off the bottom as soon as they can.
“We have to just think about ourselves and play as we have done in the last two matches.
“We have to have the same attitude, same desire and same motivation as we did against Reading and QPR.”
