Andrea Orlandi has undergone surgery
Albion are reeling from yet another injury hammer blow.
Andrea Orlandi has undergone left knee surgery and is expected to be out for two months.
Head coach Oscar Garcia revealed the latest crushing casualty news to The Argus*tonight.
Orlandi had a cartilage operation on Wednesday.
The influential Spanish midfielder suffered the damage during Albion’s opening day defeat at Leeds.
A specialist decided at that stage surgery would not be required, but the problem recurred following Orlandi’s inspirational comeback as a half-time substitute in the 1-1 draw against Millwall at The Amex in Albion’s last outing 13 days ago.
Luckless Oscar is also likely to still be without Bruno (hamstring) and Ashley Barnes (hip) for Sunday’s trip to Reading.
Both players are back in training with the squad, but they have not been completing sessions.
Hernia victim Liam Bridcutt is currently working in isolation with the fitness coaches and is still some way off a return.
Strikers Craig Mackail-Smith (ankle) and Will Hoskins (knee) remain long-term casualties.
Albion’s interest in signing Jonathan Obika on loan is still on hold while the Spurs striker recovers from a recurrence of ankle trouble.
