Within the context of The Beatles, who do you think was the greater talent, Lennon or McCartney ? Who do you think was more influential ? Whose work has endured better ?

In the context of The Beatles they were like two pieces of a two piece jigsaw. Interlocking and inseparable in terms of the synergy of their immense talent.

Which ever one of them that wrote 'Mr Blue Sky' and 'Strange Magic' would be the most talented...

Didn't they mainly write separately but agreed to share credits/royalties?

Yes...there were very few beaters songs which they truly composed together, although they would add snippets into each others songs...we can work it out is a good example of this as McCartney wrote most of the lyrics...Lennon wrote the more introspective "life is very short" section.

Another one is A Day in the life...

They wrote some great songs as soloists, but none as good as those which they composed and performed together.
