"Meanwhile in the state of Iowa, it has emerged that authorities are granting gun permits to people who are legally blind, drawing alarm from law enforcement officers. The Des Moines Register reported that at least four counties in the state have issued weapons permits to a number of people with severe visual impairments.
Polk County officials said they had given permits to at least three people who had such problems with vision that they could not read the application forms.
"I'm not an expert in vision," Delaware County Sheriff John LeClere told the newspaper. "At what point do vision problems have a detrimental effect to fire a firearm? If you see nothing but a blurry mass in front of you, then I would say you probably shouldn't be shooting something."
Federal gun laws do not provide the blind owning weapons, with issue decided on a state-by-state basis.
Unbelievable.

I'm not convinced a gun becomes less lethal when it's in the hands of an able 107 year old ?
