Definately. Needs to happen. We had to go up to Guildford for our ice hockey fix yesterday - almost sold out 2k crowd for a pre-season friendly match against Basingstoke. Bring back the Tigers.

Isn't this definitely an infringement of our logo rights? But is saying anything just being silly and churlish?

Assuming that is the team shaking hands it would be silly and churlish, unless that leaves us wide open to other infringements because of 'well you didn't sue them' defence.

I wonder why, when things were going well, Mike Ashley didn't buy up all sport in the region.

Newcastle has rugby, ice-hockey, basketball, not to mention local running, cycling, swimming et al clubs.

Black and white stripes is so synonymous with Newcastle and the North East, he could buy them all for a fraction of 1 players wages, create Team Newcastle, knock the kit out in his stores, easy money.

I'd imagine the club will write to them and get them to change that logo.

Also, how long before the Argus uses those images as their own?

I imagine this already complicated area is getting more complicated by the day.

In the past, there was some sense of national boundaries, ie if you had Hull Tigers here and Detroit Tigers in the US, then that was fine.

But as brands get ever more global you could get a situation where a franchise in the States starts cracking the whip over clubs in the UK or Australia.

Have to say, IF Brighton are properly protected in the usual way this looks a clear breach to me.

Trade-off: Would be bad PR making a fuss about it, but commercially sensible.

"In 2011 the Seagulls name was revived, with a recreational team that includes former Seagulls import Dave Anthony, who first played for them in 1984, and with a number of former players in the squad. "

Dave Anthony must be at least 50 by now. Sounds like a bunch of mates having a laugh. The best way to get out of this without looking like ***** is to either:

1) Ignore it

2) Ask them to change it, but offer to pay for new kits with their new logo.

Total rip-off. These really are great times for Albion's solicitors.

All the other logos are completely different and then their's is identical to ours with a bit of a paint job. How hard is it to draw a seagull or even to put 'our's' in a different shaped box plus tweak in couple other ways so it doesn't look anything like the origional?
