We get a couple of mentions in this months edition of Backpass, the excellent 'Retro Football Magazine with a Modern Day Bite'.

Firstly in the 'Great TV Goal' article, they talk about Peter Sayer. The featured goal is one he scored for Cardiff, but he talks about his time at Albion with fondness, until he fell out favour with Alan Mullery.

The other mention is in an article about Football Special trains 'Going Loco'. The amazing Seagull Specials are mentioned, with Mark Lawrenson quoted in the article.

If you like football nostalgia, this is a really good magazine. They are putting out 8 issues this season.

Thank you.

It's an absolute labour of love.

I'm about half way through 98/99 at the moment. The rate of upload has slowed own recently, partly due to work and other stuff, but also because the programmes are getting bigger! They are up to 40 pages now and as we go into the 2000's, they go up to 60 pages.

I wont stop though!

I believe there's going to be something on Martin Hinshelwood's playing days at Palace in an upcioming issue.

I was the person who wrote the 'Football Specials' piece.....actually the piece pretty much wrote itself, it was that much fun to do.

Thanks for the praise Hiney. As a regular contributor to Backpass I'm probably slightly biased when I say that it's an excellent magazine, worthy of a far larger readership. The dodgy economic climate meant its future was in doubt earlier in the year but the team in charge have taken the decision to plough on. Fair play to them as there's little financial reward involved.

Just out of interest, do you know if there is a particular source that captures the circulation of magazines? Would be interesting to see football magazine circulations compared to the 1970s and 1980s.

Must be hard to set up a magazine in the age of the internet. I'm pleased Backpass is continuing.

I probably should know the answer to that Rapper but, to be honest, I don't. I've always concentrated on the writing side and never wanted to deal with the politics of publishing, which is why I've deliberately avoided becoming an editor. I shouldn't think anything would come close to the sales figures for Shoot during the late seventies/early eighties though.

Speaking of which, there is a piece on Shoot! in this month's Backpass, as well as a look at the career of Alan Biley (mullets aplenty), including some comments on his time with us.

It's brilliant for us nostalgia slaves.

The piece on Shoot! is by the lads at www.thefootballattic.com - a great website to get your retro football fix every few days.

Industry body - audit bureau of circulation, www.abc.org. All heading in one direction 😱

A great read, even if you did have to talk about Palace! Love the way you focused on their double relegation!

Another top issue of Backpass. Spread the word, it's a really good read.

There's going to be stuff about Hinsh's time as Albion manager coming out in a certain book that's being published next week. From what I've heard, I think he might enjoy the Backpass piece more ...
