Albion Women secured their first win of the season in stunning fashion, after coming out on top in a nine-goal thriller away at newly-promoted Keynsham.
The Seagulls got off to a perfect start, taking the lead with just three minutes on the clock, as Kirsty Barton played the ball into Lily Agg who delicately lobbed the ball over keeper Amber Thornell.
Albion soon doubled their advantage thanks to some slick play involving Tammy Waine and Cherelle Khassal, with the latter setting up Barton to nod home a fine header just eight minutes later.
A third goal came just before the half-hour mark, as Agg turned from goalscorer to provider, laying a perfectly-timed pass into the path of Khassal to tap the ball home at the near post.
But the hosts then gave themselves a lifeline five minutes later when Vera Bernabe’s shot squeezed beneath the oncoming keeper Charlotte Sole.
Albion’s nerves were shredded further when they conceding another goalwithin a minute. Julissa Rodriguez found Leanne Lapham inside the box, who scored from close range.
Cally Beaumont then restored the Seagulls’ two-goal cushion just after the hour mark as she headed in Barton’s deep corner into the net. Barton also played an instrumental role in creating Albion’s fifth goal after crossing the ball in for Waine to execute a glancing header past Thornell.
Agg then struck again with eleven minutes remaining as she launched an unstoppable drive past the Keynsham keeper.
However it was the hosts who had the last word, after captain Abbie Britton reacted quickest to a free-kick played into the box and slid the ball past Sole to conclude a scintillating match.
