Evening all

I believe there'll be an article from Alan Nixon in Mirror tomorrow suggesting you've accepted a bid of £500k from us (Burnley) for Ashley Barnes. Even if true he may decline the move of course.

Sound likely?

Thanks.

Mmmmm
Doubt you'd get him for that, think double that would get him

Oh, and Barnes splits the fans more than any other player I care to mention.
I'm not a fan so I'd be happy to see him go. Needs 5 chances to score 1 goal

I'd be gobsmacked if:

1) We sold him for such a small fee

2) He'd want to go to Burnley.

This. I'd want at least 5 times that, and why would he go to Burnley?

Evening fella.

Blackadder sums up my thoughts completely.

No chance whatsoever of this happening-sideways step for him, limited dosh for us and suddenly we would have no backup striker.

If this is true, Burnley have a very very good deal. Ash is worth way more than £1m but the length of contract has a massive effect.

We'd be mad to sell him at this moment in time, proven goalscorer at this level and a good backup for Ulloa.

My thoughts entirely.

No chance whatsoever of this happening.

The only way it could happen is if he has refused to sign a new contract and we have to get what we can for him.

Year left on his deal is it?

Why would he want to leave the beautiful south for the armpit of the north ?

Not really a player I know much about.

If we have bid, it'll be our attempt to replace Austin.

Barnes' record doesn't suggest he's a goalscorer though?

Pretty much guarantees a new striker is coming in here.

500K seems light, but maybe with a hefty sell on clause it becomes a good enough deal for us.

Poyet kept playing him on the left wing and in Poyets system that also included being a left back when we didn't have the ball.

He scored a good hatrick against Blackpool last year when up front as a lone striker.

He's a good player imo and given a run of games upfront he'll score goals.

Ha ha. I doubt he'd be living in Burnley. Most players for clubs round our way live in Manchester or leafy Cheshire. Both less than an hour away.

There's no guarantee until the dotted line is signed.

Barnes has been offered a new contract with us, Barnsley have made small offers for our players and been turned down so I can't see us selling Barnes for less than half of his value. He can score goals but has been playing in midfield for his defensive qualities.
