If there has been a 2nd bid, then that is actually a fair shout. They would want to ideally ship Rooney out somewhere other than Chelski, but I would imagine Bale has set his sights on Madrid by now.
Someone with actual money.

This. Was chatting with a mate yesterday about how canny Levy has been about all of this. Trotting out the "Bale's still part of our plans" line, while quietly recruiting on the side means that a) RM still have to pay top dollar and b) when he DOES go, Spurs won't be ripped off by people who realise they've got a shed load of cash in the bank.
I wouldn't be surprised if the deal was done a while ago, and Bale is staying put, and doing his bit for his (soon to be) club.
Either that, or Uncle Tony's put his hand down the sofa and Gareth fancies a new challenge in the Championship...
