1) We did not park easily next to the ground.

ii) We did not leave and have a simple jam free journey home.

c) You did not get a seat on the train.

5) If you ate a pie you're not reading this because it would have killed you!!

4) Yes we watched some great games, but we watched far more cack.

d) For most of the cack, we were over charged.

Anymore?

It was great, it's now part of my/our DNA, I wouldn't change those memories for anything.
That ground has gone someway to making us what we are today.

That doesn't mean I want to go back, compared with what we have now.
And more importantly want we have now shouldn't be compared to our rose tinted memories.

e) It was not a cauldron of white hot noise. Sometimes it was great, most of the time it wasn't. Just like the Amex.

f) The North, South and East stand loos were a stinking health hazard. For those who never went there, if you have ever visited Selhurst you had a very similar experience.

G) The anti smoking lobby would have a field day, my over riding memory of the terraces is the wafts of pipe tobacco

My father in law was involved in the production of those pies at The Goldstone, care to explain yourself.

I apologise for my flippant remark.
I don't remember the pies or any of the food at the Goldstone being of the standard we are now served.

h) The experience of watching from the terraces wasn't always a pleasant one, especially for children, who both found it hard to see any of the game, and also were often scared when it got lively.

1) We did not park easily next to the ground.

Well I parked on the road that runs along Hove park, you could tell how big the crowd was going to be by how far along the road you had to go to find a space, still only a 10 min walk, but at least didn't have to pay for parking!

ii) We did not leave and have a simple jam free journey home.

Pretty much was (apart from the times you ran a guantlet along the east stand road with the opposing fans!)

c) You did not get a seat on the train.

Yep I did on the times I took the train for Lancing

5) If you ate a pie you're not reading this because it would have killed you!!

never had a pie, but had a burger once and was violently sick that night...never again

4) Yes we watched some great games, but we watched far more cack.

True

d) For most of the cack, we were over charged.

Not really, stood behind the goal for on average a tenner, not bad

Milk crates

Can you imagine trying to get into the ground with those these days.

Fans in the pylons for the Ipswich cup game.

I even stood on the roof of the tea hut on the East terrace for the Spurs game the year they got promoted with the Saints in that fixed game and the only abuse I got was from the many Spurs fans in with us on the East Terrace that day.

Health and Safety pah

This is true, but on the flip side there was a sense that we looked after our own.
As a youngster in my usual spot at the front of the north stand, there was a number of times when it was kicking off, I along with other kids were scooped up by a random people and put in a spot out of harms way.

There seemed to be a lot more "togetherness" back then.
