Wigan need to sign ugly Championship players and soon. They should have sold McCarthey, McArthur, McManaman and Jordi Gomez as soon as they went down and signed half a dozen replacements before the season started. There is no chance they can go up this season with their squad, and with the Europe League games.

Agree, but a good Manager at a club that isn't going through off the field turmoil or has a team filled with "too good for the Championship" sorts should be huge favourites.

Wigan are a stable club, with hard working Pro's. if Martinez had stayed reckon they would have been odds on .... but he didn't so they may struggle

Wigan will be this season's birmingham (2011/12 version). European dates will lead to upset results early season, and delayed league games will leave them lower down the division with games in hand. They'll get knocked out of europe then see their league form improve and as they catch up in the 'played' column, they'll move up the table quite rapidly and be in the play off picture come the end of the season.

I notice theo Robinson has just signed and scored for donnie.... He would have been a good impact sub for us wasted at donnie and still only 24 seems like he's been around years
