But you have to ask why hardly any of our players are prepared to go abroad. We'll never dominate the world while most of our players are just comfortble taking the wage here.

And with the EPL being an offshoot of the the FA, it is without doubt the main reason for our poor showing in World Cup and Euro Championships :shootself
I read that as EDL.

I think it's more to do with the fact a non International English Premier League player isn't good enough for Spain, France, Italy & Germany.

There aren't enough good English players to sustain 4 quality leagues.

A few years ago, or maybe 10 years, Gary Borrowdale would have been a good league 2 left back. Tonight is playing in Blue Square South against Bournemouth.

And a board member openly asked what Rooney could bring to Bayern when asked about Wayne's availability. He had a point. They're not really into chubsters blowing out of their arse after 70 minutes.

One of the problems is too many overseas managers in the EPL, they don't have the patience to bring young English players through and of course if you can get a Michu for £2m you're not going to pay £4 or £5m for an untried English youngster. Even some Scottish managers are 'English friendly', Ferguson's ManU had/has more English players than most and Kenny Dalglish bought quite a few English players and brought many into the 1st team squad (Flanagan, Kelly, Robinson, Spearing, Shelvey, Sterling), unfortunately Brendan Rodgers is getting rid of most of them.
