I ruddy LOVE Steely Dan.

But would I love a tribute act, however faithfully they deliver Fagen and Becker's best?

I'm thinking not, to be honest ...

This might be heresy. However...

Having watched Steely Dan at Wembley about 13 years ago, I can safely say that the thought of watching a tribute act in a much smaller venue, where they'll probably play the songs of the 1970s in the original style, is much more exciting to this fan than watching the clapped out Fagen and Becker detachedly performing their good songs in between their unloved newer numbers!

I really want to go but Mrs V has put her foot down. If it were a soft strumming melancholic US folk singer I would have been frogmarched there by her. So no Babylon Sister or Your Gold Teeth for me, sigh.

Blimey, what a blast from the past, Chicken Kiev as favourite food..... mind you the grammar is awful, Steelydan ? Robert de Nero ?

On another level "Biggest Disappointment: Mother Dying ? Surely he must have had an outside expectation that it might happen ? oh, unless she was the White Queen from Narnia or The Wicked Witch of the West

You could threaten her with a Haitian divorce...!

I've seen Nearly Dan at the Jazz Cafe in Camden and Steely Dan over here in Boston and can't recommend seeing either or both of them highly enough. ND are a really good laugh, a load of funny, unpretentious British blokes who are brilliant musicians and love the Dan, as everyone should, of course. It's not some desperate, weird tribute act with stupid costumes or whatever. For anyone with even a passing interest in SD, I'd get along there.
