The presentation is missing a key detail - how much energy is required to convert?
He said it heats it up to melting point and then the gasses are collected.
What happened to the residue after all the gasses have been extracted? - I assume it doesn't all turn to gas.

Nice idea, by I fear we haven't been given the whole picture ....

Considering the plastic is made from oil in the first place, its a far better idea to attempt to not use it and have the oil to begin with, or have it properly recyclable.

Easier way is to just stop using plastic bags. Number of places in Europe including part of the UK - NI - have plastic bag charges which mean that the number used has collapsed.
