Nigel Clough appeals at The Amex
Derby boss Nigel Clough reckons his side produced an exceptional away performance at The Amex.
The Rams, who have struggled for away wins in recent campaigns, came from behind to beat Albion 2-1.
Clough felt they were worth their win – and did not deserve to be behind in the first place.
He said: “This result will give us confidence and belief and that could be very important.
“We came from a goal behind as well. And we certainly didn’t deserve to go a goal behind the way we started the game in the first 15 minutes.
“I thought it was an exceptionally good away performance.
“We set our stall out to stop Brighton playing and to play ourselves, which is very important.
“We had to defend at times in the second half but not much. And I thought we were always a threat to get the third goal as well.”
Clough said he was not sure whether Albion should have had a first-half penalty for handball.
But he admitted he was surprised how often referee Andy D’Urso produced the yellow card.
