Good first balf, second half looked league 2 at best. Bumped into chicksen after the game and he said he's fit just needs match fitness and hopefully plays a part Saturday.

Problem is he is a centre half who can fill in at LB.

Showed yesterday that he doesn't get forward and struggles with players going outside him.

Wouldn't dismiss him just yet, must be very difficult to come into basically what is an unbalanced and undercooked side. But we need a specialist left back urgently

I like the look of Maksimenko - think he just needs a few games, would like to see im at CB - we are desperate for a bit of pace at the back. Upson by far our best CB and great experience. Greer not convincing for me, like him but think last season was his last at the top. Happy to be proven wrong

One problem is that the team seemed to be trying to protect him so would, if they could, play the ball to the right rather than the left. Meant we were a tad predictable and when we did move it left, Maxi would usually run forward then pass it back to Upson

I think Chicksen will become a more viable option as soon as he's match fit just because he's a more natural fullback and quicker, but signing a senior left back even if just on loan would be nice

The first half, right in front of me, I thought he looked great, very composed, read the game well with accurate passing.

I think he got caught out massively for the 2nd goal. Promising debut, but is not at the required level yet. We need a senior left back ASAP.

I was at the opposite end of the ground but surely Calde was responsible for leaving someone completely free on the right side of our defence to score? Absolute gift.

True, but the ball didn't just appear at Derby man's feet.

Before Calde's screw up at least 4 other players need to be looking at themselves.

It was a bad goal to concede.

I think the reason the ball was being played right not left is because of the way we were set up. In a 4-5-1/4-3-3 we had main striker, inside forward and winger. Buckley was the winger on the right with Barnes as an IF cutting in or playing off Ulloa so we focussed our passing down the right to the winger

I think so too, plus Kuszchak really should've come out more commandingly and attacked the ball early. He had a poor game yesterday by his standards.

Why doesn't anyoke care he was left 2 vs 1 all game? Doesn't that add any context? I thought he looked like a good player afraid to venture too far forward because he rightly knew that nobody would cover him.

Oscar's tactics left him bizarrely exposed and ultimately cost us the game because the winner came from that side. He deserved better than that on his league debut.

Just an observation, but why are so many of our players not 'match fit', presumably they are still taking a full wage for their services. How many more threads relating to our players including kemy are going to refer to not match fit. NO excuse in my book, if your a professional and the season has started you should be 'match fit' even if you didn't have a contract early on. is not match fit another way of saying slow, over weight, complacent, not motivated, not understanding of strategy or out of your depth. Its an observation as how long does it take to become match fit?

From pre season training through numerous friendlies, some of which seem pointless which is usually July and early August about 6 weeks but we only had 3 due to the late appointment of OG and his staff, and very few friendlies. Gus brought in his own players and we played the likes of Burgess Hill Worthing, Whitehawk etc but this year we played hardly anybody. The standard of opposition doesnt matter it is the getting together to get to know each others play and the mangers tactics that they have friendlies which we didnt have and as such the league games are now doing the same but with much more importance and difficult opponents.

I thought he did alright. A bit naive with a few attempted tackles but on the whole positioned himself well.

He really suffered from having no left winger in front of him, both with and without the ball. When Derby had it he had no protection and when we had the ball he had no option down the line. Only options were inside (risky) or back to Upson (unproductive).

Like Ince I think we need to make a decision on whether we want to play him and stick with who ever for a run of games. That's the only way these younger players will adapt.

Looked lightweight to me . Was ok and happy as a back up but not first choice for me . Ticked the boxs but didn't press on enough and push their right side back . Invited pressure on rather than dominate them back. . Maybe just comparing to bridge who was quality but he isn't a left back who would be in a play off team

I was quite impressed he's not the finished thing but good sign's he and Ince jump into tackles that when missed left the space behind unprotected but this is to be expected with young players they will learn
