I know this isn't football but would really appreciate your input
We are looking at moving to Eastbourne after we have sold our Brighton house
Mainly for health reasons.
As we have always lived in Brighton we could do with some advice on any areas we should avoid and any areas you would recommend
Parking is a key issue for me so the town centre is out really and realistic pricing
Your thoughts please

It all depends on your budget, though, and what sort of house you want.
Are schools or pubs important ?
Give us some ideas of those and we'll be better placed to advise.

As a rough guide though, avoid Langney, shinewater, parts of hampden park, anywhere east of lottbridge drove. Meads is nice, but snobby and expensive. Old town has character.

Well it's true there's maybe less porn on view, but its actually quite a nice place. But much depends on your age, its not as dynamic as Brighton. Also how much of a budget will dominate your choice. Both 'Happypig' and 'Lord B' give sound advice. Willingdon/Ratton are other nice on the periphery places but more painful on the pocket. And the Marina is nice too, and not too pricey.... Won't lose you to Eastbourne Borough will we?

we decided on Langney point area
Eastbourne is not the quiet place it used to be though, but not as noisy and busy as Brighton though

Depends on your budget, Meads (expensive) St Philips, Willingdon all good and you could try Polegate and Lower Willingdon both good and easy to get the train to Falmer, would avoid Willingdon Trees, parts oF Hampden Park, Langney, Seaside, Old Town and the Town Centre.

Old Town balances not too expensive but good area, so good value for money. Meads, Ratton, Willingdon, Polegate, North Harbour, Stone Cross, Pevensey, Westham are probably the best areas. On large give the Shinewater/Langney/Hampden Park areas a wide berth.

As mentioned further up the thread, be cautious if looking at anything on the East side. Langney Point is generally okay, but you have Kingsmere on the doorstep. Old Town, Meads, Harbour, Atlantic Drive area, Willingdon, all okay, but of course, all down to budget.

Langney does actually have pockets of okay parts - Other parts are naff. Do your homework if considering buying in Langney. Avoid Shinewater and Kingsmere at all costs or anywhere close by to those neighbourhoods.

The marina is dreadfully overbuilt and soulless

West is best in Eastbourne. Meads, most of old town, ratton, willingdon.

This! But would need budget info and roughly what looking for to help more (bungalow, house, flat 2-3-4 etc. bed, downstairs proper bathroom needed, off-road parking). Health issues? What health issues are different in Brighton than Eastbourne (if you don't mind the question)

The two most sought after addresses are Royal Sussex Crescent and Croxden Way. Avoid Meads like the plague!

Do yourself a favour... Don't bother moving!

Moved to Langley point for 4 years now (due to partner from eastbourne) ,both thinking of selling soon as possible.

Meads = over priced and boring, old town = boring , willingdon = umm boring ,
Roads out of eastbourne are terrible as well , i.e. A22 and A27

I've lived here for nearly 20 years (apart from 3 years in Devon) and I can't really argue with any of that but in it's favour, it's reasonably priced (when compared to Brighton or Lewes), crime isn't bad, and it is quite peaceful.
I'd move back to Brighton in an instant though...

The area around St Phillips avenue as said is good. It's actually called Roselands. I've lived in Roselands for almost 7 years now and love it. Yes Eastbourne is not the most exciting place in the world and lacks the cosmopolitan aspect of Brighton but there is loads going on. The image people have is one based on the seventies, God's waiting room etc. The demographic has changed a lot since and there are many younger people here now. After living in Liverpool for 14 years,I can tell you that although there are poorer parts here, the people are generally softer and quieter. I love it. (But I still prefer Seaford!)
