He told seagulls.co.uk, “You go through pre-season and from the first game you have you are itching for the real thing, so everyone is fit, ready, and raring to go.
“I think it will be a very similar game to last year to be honest. We have brought a few players in and they have to, but Leeds are a strong side and they are probably tipped to be in the top ten and pushing for the play-offs. So it is a good start for us, a tough one, and it will be a good test.
“It was an eventful last home game for them and it was the one that sealed our place in the play-offs so it was a big win. We needed to win that day and we did, so hopefully we can do the same this time.”*
A host of Championship clubs have spent big in order to hunt for a place in the Premier League and Buckley is expecting a more difficult challenge compared to the 2012/13 campaign.
“It will be another tough season but we have already proved that we have got the players that are going to be up there so hopefully we can play as well, and everyone can come together as a team like we did last season.
“I am confident we can be up there again, obviously big teams have spent big money so it will harder than last season, but we are up for the test.”
