Southampton could miss out on around £11million if Gareth Bale is sold to Real Madrid

Sky Sports understands Southampton could miss out on around £11million if Gareth Bale is sold to Real Madrid.
When they sold Bale to Tottenham in 2007, they inserted a sell-on clause believed to be 15% of any future transfer fee.
However, when they found themselves in financial difficulty, Southampton waived that clause and agreed to receive around £1.5million plus Spurs youth keeper Tommy Forecast.
Forecast never made an appearance for Southampton and is currently without a club.
Saints can still expect a small percentage of a Bale sale to cover training costs - that figure is thought to be around two and a half per cent.
However, a potential sale that could have netted Southampton £13million will instead only yield around £2million.

Other reports are saying it was a 25% sell-on clause (which would have earnt them a cool £21 MILLION).....but as they were in the shit financially they sold that got a buy out of that clause which earnt them £3 Million.

Who knows, that £3 Million may have kept them in business and may have gone bust without it. Besides, at the time Bale wasnt the greatest !!

How much will we get when Real drop interest in Bale and go after Craig Noon?

I absolutely agree with this. The £3m, at the time, may have actually been better business than the £20m+ now given Southampton's relative position.

More to the point, is there really someone called Tommy Forecast? What an excellent name.

Indeed. 3 million to a League One club is possibly worth considerably more than 20 million is to a Premier League club.

Still quite funny though.

Excellent name, terrible goalkeeper, I believe.
