I think that was intended as a joke. But 1975 was the year when Leeds lost to Bayern Munich in the European Cup Final.

I remember one of my mates congratulating Ian Culverhouse in the Event night club a few years later. He walked over to him at the bar and said "I'd like to congratulate you for beating Bayern Munich in the Olympic Stadium!". My mate was off his tree at the time
Chelsea have beaten Munich 3 times over the last decade or so. Twice over 2 legs and in the final last year.

Honourable mention to Everton who beat Bayern Munich at Goodison on their way to lifting the Cup winners' Cup in 1985.
And, I suppose, to Arsenal who whipped Bayern Munich 3-0 in the prestigious Makita International Tournament in 1988:

They were the only English team to have won away to Bayern in regulation time until last season when Arsenal won 2-0 in the Allianz Arena having lost 3-1 at the Emirates.
