In a pile of football shirts
Where did the English get the idea to call the top flight the "Premier League"?

"A mountain of work has been done over the summer to get to this point and I believe there is much more that can be done," said SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster.

really? really? how did that take more than an afternoon, allowing for fag breaks, coffee breaks, munchie breaks?

What an opportunity missed. It wasn't a big opportunity but an opportunity nonetheless.

Scottish football will never progress unless the powers that be facilitate some mergers between clubs to raise some capital and create some interest. Welsh rugby hasn't been this strong since the mid-70s, and this has largely been achieved by reducing the number of elite teams to 4 - Blues, Scarlets, Dragons, Ospreys.

By halving the number of teams they will improve the quality, increase the number of full-time professionals and make the League more attractive to investors and fans.

The Rangers demotion should have been the catalyst for radical thinking. Instead, today's decision condemns Scotland to another 20 years in the football wilderness.
