A determined Lewes fought back from a goal down to defeat Albion’s youthful development side 3-1.Glen Rea’s second-half header put Albion ahead but a Ross Trevelean brace and a late Smith header consigned the Seagulls’ young charges to defeat.
The first half was a quiet affair with chances few and far between. Albion controlled the possession but were unable to penetrate a Lewes backline that contained the Seagulls women’s team manager, Jay Lovett.
The hosts turned up the pressure after the half-hour mark and Nathan Crabb was only denied an opening goal by the legs of Christian Walton.

A fizzing drive from 35 yards nearly brought about a spectacular opener but Jack Dixon’s effort whistled just wide.
Lewes started the second half brightly and almost took the lead when Jack Walder headed Frasier Logan’s inswinging free-kick just wide.
The Rooks were asking the majority of the questions but it was Albion who struck the killer blow on 59 minutes when Rea powered his header past Rikki Banks.
But the hosts had looked threatening and a moment of quality brought them level. Substitute Treleaven had only been on the pitch a matter of minutes before he curled an excellent 25 yard free-kick beyond Grant Smith.
Treleaven was proving an inspired change as his close range header completed the turnaround and put the Rooks ahead.
Rob Hunt’s double clearance off the line prevented a third goal for the hosts before a sloppy back pass almost presented Albion with an equaliser up the other end. However Toby Agdestein was forced out wide after beating keeper Banks to the ball, and his pull back across the goal was cleared away.********
Albion were left to rue the lost opportunity as Lewes extended their lead when Smith headed home from close range to secure the win for the hosts.
