Is he actually being knighted? I never read the list.

I don't think he should be knighted. Being a performer should not gain someone a knighthood. He is worthy of an obe but not a knighthood.

It may not be very fashionable to like Knopfler and Straits, but I still love his guitar work. No reason to be knighted though, as far as I'm aware.

They do say that the music/bands you listen to in your late teens/early 20s, stays with you forever, and this certainly has for me however much I hear more recent stuff.
