my train to work leaves at 7.30am, and i get back to station in evening at 6.30pm = 11 total work/travelling time, right?


BUT!

travel each way is 1 hour = 2 hours; + 8.5 hours at work (inc lunch) = 10.5 hours..

so where did the missing 30 minutes go?

I don't get this joke at all. Is it even a joke? You get to work at 8:30 and leave at 5:30 so you are at work for 9 hours not 8.5.

Is it the case that you spend half an hour on the morning dump as soon as you get to work and need to factor this in?
