Long shot I know, but i can't seem to work out what this little critter is, so i was wondering if the wonderful knowledge of NSC can help me out.

Found this little guy in central Italy, if that helps

That is one of Italys ten deadliest, the long fanged red back beetle. You were lucky to escape, its venom is enough to kill ten people.

Rhynocoris iracundus?

"red assasin bug", poisonous to humans.
