To be fair they were deducted 3 points, this then relegated them.

However, they were not relegated as a punishment

Either way, it's bloody madness when you look at it in the context of global footballing finances

The article did not tell the whole story. Thurrock and Tilbury both signed the same player (not at the same time) and used him in League Matches. The club secretary (who appears to have been at each club at the time of signing) failed to detect that the player had a sine die suspension. Later when the player attempted to sign for Harlow, the secretary there on making checks did find out about the suspension and that is when the s**t hit the fan.

Tilbury incidently who used the player in more games were docked (I think) 18 points. This did not put them in a relegation position so they did not appeal and accepted that they had broken the rules. The Thurrock Chairman is reported to have threatened to obtain an injunction to prevent the League from opererating until the European Court of Arbitration of Sport have looked at the matter. If the court accept that they are entitled to look at this situation then these matters can take up to 8 months. Other clubs in the League are not happy.
Imagine if a Championship club obtained an injunction to prevent the Albion playing for the next 8 months, would you be happy?

So Pompey and Palace can get away with their financial mess, but a club who owes £16 is relegated? Disgusting.

Google the facts, it isn't hard!

Exactly, they were relegated because for most of the season they weren't good enough and the three points made the difference. No sympathy however, the FA or Premiership should apply the same rules to everyone. No excuse for fielding illegible players.
