The gurnard is known as the chicken of the sea.
A very good eating fish although very underrated in this country.
Very popular in France and great for fish pie

Gurnard it is, or Gurnett as it's known in some areas. I ran a fishmongers for a while and I couldn't give them away. People only want what they know.

Blimey...all I used to catch was Ling and Pout when I was a kid. We didn't catch anything this exotic!

Its a nice little Gurnard commonly known as a Stomper due to its habit of "Walking" along the sea bed on its adapted pectoral fins.
