Austin fails medical at Hull

Really surprised this deal has fallen through - looked to me that Hull were getting a bargain at 4.5 mill. His goals to game ratio at Burnley is amazing and his rise from non league to Championship hot shot via Swindon is really impressive.

So begs the question - what is medically dubious about a (young) striker who scored 28 goals for a very average Burnley side last season?

Anyone have an inkling? Got to be a better bet in the prem than Gayle at Palace?

This according to Sky Sports;

A fee had been agreed between the two clubs but Austin has now failed his medical, with his shoulder - which he has dislocated three times since 2010 - reportedly the issue.

Interesting - thanks for the info - be interesting to see if he still bangs them in next season.

I wonder if there is anything that can be done - operation? Specially designed shoulder support?

Such a quality player, it seems a shame that he may not get his chance to play Premier League football.

Steve Bruce said himself that he had hardly missed any games through injury. I suppose if he fails the medical it will mean they are unable to get him insured.

Given that George Boyd failed his medical at Forest and then ended up at Hull, maybe Hull already have their quota of players with dodgy medical backgrounds!

With his record, I am sure someone will think it is worth the risk, and he will move elsewhere and bang the goals in.

LuaLua failed his medical with us but still became our player. It affected the price we paid for him.

Seems a bit weird really considering his ability to mix it up/survive outside the top flight, which is arguably more physical than the PL.

Demba Ba failed a medical at Stoke because of his knee. Didn't Pulis say he was an accident waiting to happen. Someone else will snap (no pun intended) up Austin no problem.
