After the historic and heroic escapades of (the soon to be) Sir Andy Murray yesterday, where does it rank amongst the great British sporting achievements??

I couldn't chose between any of these, all were brilliant moments and instead of trying to pick the best we should celebrate how much success we've had and in such a high number of different sports

Do you reckon in 50 years everyone will be wearing Andy Murray instead of Fred Perry

Steven Redgrave is the most impressive and got my vote but other than Hereford away watching England win the Ashes in 2005 is the greatest sporting moment of my life.

Roger Bannister, because unlike the others which are mainly frequently-held competitions, he was the first in the world to do something that many others were trying and failing to do.

Plus, I couldn't vote for my favourite

I'm intrigued by the inclusion of the 2005 Ashes and its reputation. It was a fantastic series but I don't see why it differs from other Ashes wins. I thought 1981 was a better series because we looked down and out, while 1970/71 was a better England because we stiffed a decent Australian team in their own back yard.

Despite being an Aussie, I think the 66 World Cup victory is the greatest achievement.

It's the one sport that is truly a world sport. Regardless of colour, creed, financial standing you can compete.

A lot of the other sports are either for more affluent nations or restricted to commonwealth like participation.

Plus 66 was done as a singular nation. Not a composition of many.

In terms of a wider sporting significance, Roger Bannister's sub 4-minute mile is the greatest sporting achievement on the list. If you are talking about "heavy lifting for nationalism" (feel good factor) then take your pick.

Oh, I thought Lennox Lewis was Canadian.

Purely for longevity in a physically demanding sport, I voted for Sir Steve Redgrave's 5 gold medals in the Olympics, stretched over a 16 year period.

LOVE the sneaky inclusion of the Beckham one. Genius.

Don't Mention The War
Really? ???

Chinny reckon.

We literally dominated the Convicts that series. There were absolutely some mammoth records broken, the first team match saving innings by Cook, Trott and Strauss. The Second Test in Adelaide on the fifth day, when heavy rain was going to arrive. So many great memories, will live with me forever.
