Just heard on London radio tavel report that SW Trains have delays due to high temperatures!

It's 80 degrees! 80 degrees, not 95!

Does their infrastructure not work when the temperature reaches a normal level for the summer? Bloody joke sometimes, this country.

Moan over ... for the moment.

the rails are not used to the extreme heat we are having, hasn't been this hot since 1976

So how exactly do countries with hotter summers than we have (the majority) manage to operate their trains?

Bloody piss take. Out of interest how much is an annual travel card for London these days?

It's the rail temperature that counts not the air temperature, Once the rails get to a certain temperature there's an increase in the risk of buckled rails and point failures which is when they go into hot weather working and that causes delay's unfortunately.

The rails appear to melt at around these temperatures every year we get them. Oh, and don't forget the trackside fires that will doubtless kick in and trigger Travel Chaos before the end of the week. Them's the rules.

So it seems there is only a window of opportunity between March-May and Sept-Oct for the rails to not be too hot or too cold. What a pathetic shambles of a public transport system.

So back to my earlier question. How do all the many many countries with very much hotter summers than us manage to operate their trains?
